Market Positioning Matrix


This activity is entirely optional, but as a result of the competition questions in the Audience Profiles, some of you will start to or want to ask more questions about how you relate to the competition in your market. If you’re struggling to see a difference between yourself and your competition, you need to be more aware of where you sit and maybe alter your position or express it more consciously in your marketing moving forward.

We’ll be using Porter’s Generic Strategies to position you in the market because it gives more dimensions than other market positioning matrices. However, some of the wording can be confusing, so there are definitions and examples on the next couple of pages and a walkthrough video here.
